Sacramento’s Premier Literary Event

March 4, 2017

This year’s “Authors on the Move marks our 15th year of bringing together 40 plus distinguished California authors and their recently published books for an evening of literary delight. We are thrilled  to present this year’s keynote speaker, Héctor Tobar recently published novel, Deep Down Dark: The Untold Stories of Thirty-Three Men Buried in a Chilean Mine, and the Miracle that Set Them Freee.    Deep Down Dark tells the true story of 33 miners who were buried underground in a Chilean mine for 69 days beginning on August 5, 2010. When the men were underground they agreed that they would tell their story once, to one person. Hector Tobar’s accounting of the miner’s dark journey nearly a mile below ground for 69 days is fantastic!

Beth Ruyak, of Capital Public Radio’s Insight, will return this year as Mistress of Ceremonies along with auctioneer Pat Hume of David Sobon Auctions. Guests will enjoy a champagne reception, a four-course meal from the Hyatt Regency’s farm-to-fork Executive Chef, Jason Poole, unlimited wine, conversations with three regional authors at their table, a keynote presentation by Hector Tobar, and a live auction which features opportunities to win one-time author experiences. The Avid Reader Bookstore offers all titles for purchase the night of the event.

This event just keeps getting better while creating more and more support for our Library’s Summer Reading Program and the Foundation’s operations! Tickets are sold out.  To inquire further, call April Javist (formerly Butcher) at 916-836-3556 or email at april@saclibraryfoundation.org.

Authors on the Move is being held on March 4, 2017, 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. at the Hyatt Regency Sacramento downtown, 1209 L St, Sacramento, CA.
